| Biography |
| Dr. Kaplan received
a BS degree in Physical Therapy from the University
of Connecticut in 1978, an MS in Allied Health
from Ohio State University in 1984, and her Ph.D.
in Pathokinesiology from New York University in
1991. She is Assistant Director and Associate Professor
in the Doctoral Program in Physical Therapy, and
Co-Director of the Newark Therapy Services Faculty
Practice. She previously held academic appointments
at West Virginia University and Long Island University,
and was listed in Who's Who Among America's Teachers
in 2000. Dr. Kaplan's academic and research interests
are in pediatric rehabilitation and clinical outcome
measures. Dr. Kaplan teaches in both the professional
and post-graduate DPT programs. She provides training
and consultation to the Newark Therapy Services
physical and occupational therapists on providing
school-based services. Dr. Kaplan has lectured
frequently on the development of clinical outcome
measures, evidence-based practice, and is in the
process of writing a book, "Outcome Measures in
Physical Therapy Practice", at the request of F.A.
Davis publishers. She has served on the national
task force to develop outcome measure recommendations
for the APTA Guide to Physical Therapist Practice.
Dr. Kaplan serves as an educational consultant
for the APTA Section on Education, and is an on-site
evaluator and team leader for the Commission on
Accreditation in Physical Therapy Education (CAPTE). |
