Biography
Dr. Weisberg is Professor of Medicine and Head of the Division of Nephrology at the UMDNJ - Robert Wood Johnson Medical School, Cooper University Hospital, in Camden. He received his AB degree from Washington University in St. Louis, and graduated with honors from Temple University School of Medicine in 1981, where he was elected to AOA. He completed his training in both Internal Medicine and Nephrology at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania, and in 1987, he joined the faculty of RWJMS - Camden as Assistant Professor of Medicine in the Division of Nephrology. He has been director of the fellowship program in nephrology since 1989, in which capacity he has mentored many trainees. In 1996, he was appointed Associate Head of the Nephrology Division, and in 2001, Division Head. Dr. Weisberg has been the recipient of numerous medical student teaching awards over the years. In addition, he was awarded the Internal Medicine Housestaff Teaching Award in 1994, and the campus-wide Sol Sherry, MD, Teaching Award in 1998. He has been invited repeatedly to speak at the American Society of Nephrology Annual Update in Nephrology Course, and has lectured widely in his principle area of research, the prevention and medical treatment of acute renal failure. Dr. Weisberg is a past president of the Nephrology Society of New Jersey. He is a Fellow of the American College of Physicians, and a Fellow of the College of Physicians of Philadelphia.
