| Biography |
| Judith E. Deutsch
is Associate Professor of Physical Therapy in the
Doctoral Program in Physical Therapy in UMDNJ's
School of Health Related Professions. She is the
Director of the Research in Virtual Environments
and Rehabilitation Sciences Lab. She received her
BA in Human Biology from Stanford, her MS in Physical
Therapy from USC and her PhD in Pathokinesiology
from NYU. She was a NIDRR Post-Doctoral Fellow
in Rehabilitation Research at Kessler Institute.
She is the Editor in Chief of the Journal of Neurologic
Physical Therapy (JNPT), which was recently indexed
in Medline. Her practice teaching and research
interests converge in the area of neurologic rehabilitation,
specifically, rehabilitation of individuals post-stroke.
Currently her work involves the use of virtual
reality and imagery to improve the walking of individuals
post-stroke. The areas of her scholarship of teaching
are: clinical reasoning, use of evidence in practice
and the integration of faculty development and
mentoring with teaching. These general areas are
applied to the content of neurologic physical therapy
and complementary therapies and clinical inquiry.
She is currently completing a book on clinical
decision making and evidence-based approach to
complementary therapies. She has received the SHRP
Excellence in Teaching and Research Awards and
was inducted into the Master Educator Guild in
2004. |
