| Biography |
| Edmund L. Erde,
PhD, is Professor in the Department of Family Medicine
at UMDNJ - School of Osteopathic Medicine. He is
also Adjunct Professor in Psychiatry, the School
of Nursing, and the Masters of Public Policy Program
of Rutgers University (Camden). He has been visiting
faculty at New York State College of Veterinary
Medicine (Cornell), Texas A&M University, and
Hahnemann University. Dr. Erde was educated at
Cornell University, Brooklyn College, and the University
of Texas in philosophy. He began his teaching career
in medical ethics at the University of Texas Medical
Branch (Galveston) in 1975. Prior to that, he was
on the philosophy faculty at Trinity University
(San Antonio, Texas). Dr. Erde is on several ethics
committees in South Jersey and consults in several
health care institutions. He has authored over
70 articles and chapters in medical ethics and
philosophy. He is on the editorial board of the
book series Philosophy of Medicine (Kluwer Publishing
Company) and on the Board of Advisors of the Journal
of Medicine and Philosophy. Dr. Erde is a founding
member of The Ethics Group, LLC, which offers ProBE,
a course for physicians and other healthcare professionals
who are mandated to take remedial education in
ethics by licensing boards or other institutions.
He is also a fellow of the Philadelphia College
of Physicians. |
